Montessori Philosophy

Dr. Maria Montessori understood that a uniform approach to education does not work for everyone because everyone learns differently and at their own pace. As a result, she prepared an environment to accommodate a wealth of interests. The Montessori method concentrates on the individual needs of each child. Children are instructed as they pursue their own passions. Ultimately, children learn because they want to learn not because they are told what to learn.

Dr. Montessori’s observations of the kinds of things which children enjoy, and go back to repeatedly, led her to design a number of multi-sensory, sequential, and self-correcting materials to facilitate learning. In order for self directed learning to take place, the whole learning environment – classroom, materials, and social setting atmosphere – must be supportive of the child. We provide the necessary resources, including opportunities for children to function in a safe and positive environment. Together, with the child, we form a relationship based on trust and respect that fosters self confidence and a willingness to try new things throughout life.

Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy is based on love and respect for each child. We understand and accept that each child is a special and unique individual entrusted into our care. Our warm and loving school environment provides each child with the love and joy of learning and allows and encourages each child to realize their fullest potential in all areas of life.

We share a vision of peace, both inner peace as well as in the classroom environment. We strive to meet the needs of each individual child. Children need to feel loved and be cared for with respect. By providing such care and an environment conducive to learning, children will become loving, compassionate, respectful human beings with a desire and love for learning and respect towards one another.
